Uninvited Travelling Companion

The hotel and train reservations for our family vacation to Glacier National Park are made and confirmed! We're so excited!

Apparently one of F's classmates is excited, too! He called and left a message on our answering machine on Friday and 4 messages on Saturday while we were gone talking about coming on the train with us.

We weren't sure how he got our number because the school directory for this year hasn't come out yet, but F said that she gave it to him. (She said she didn't know why he asked her for it.) Josh was wondering if the boy's parents knew he'd been calling us. Did F's classmate think this was a field trip the class was going on? We weren't sure what to make of it.

Today after church, F's teacher came up to me and told me she'd heard from the boy that he was coming on our vacation with us. Apparently his mom also talked to her and mentioned that she'd found out he'd been calling us without her knowledge and had invited himself along on our trip. The mom was so embarrassed! I don't know who the mom is, but I told F's teacher that the mom didn't need to be embarrassed and that we thought it was funny.

Who knew we'd have to be concerned about F and boys already in kdg?! LOL

Vacation Planning

Much of my time since Sunday has been dedicated to searching online and making plans for our family to take a vacation this summer to Glacier National Park. We're planning to take the Amtrak train there and back, staying at one of the lodges in the park, something Josh has wanted to do almost as long as I've known him.

We were planning on doing a big family vacation next summer anyway, maybe to Niagara Falls. Then other day Josh (originally from WA state) mentioned how he missed the mountains. That set in motion the idea of actually going to Glacier and not just saying "someday", searching the internet for hotels, fares, etc., and now we're almost set to make our reservations! Just a couple more things need to be taken care of first.

The kids are really excited and love the idea of taking the train even though they know it's going to be a long ride. To tell the truth, Josh and I are excited, too!
