The Breather Between Parties

On the 26th my brother and his family arrived to stay at our house a few days.

The 27th we hosted Christmas with my "immediate extended family" when my parents and sister came for the day, too.

Yesterday we all headed over to my grandparents' house to celebrate Christmas with them along with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. Everyone was there except for my one cousin's 3 step-children and my mom who had to work ... a total of 36 people.

My brother and his family packed up and left our house this morning before heading to my SIL's sister's house to see her family for a few days before they head back home.

We adults watched a couple of movies after the kids were in bed while my bro and SIL were here. The first one was The (Der) Tunnel. I think it's the first movie with subtitles I've ever seen. It's a German-made movie about when the Berlin Wall was built in the early 1960's and some people who dug a tunnel underground to help people get from East to West Berlin. It was really a very good movie! (Not for kids though.) The second movie was 88 Minutes, not a movie I'd care to see again.

All our Christmas parties are done, but we are hosting a small New Year's Eve party at our house on the 31st with a few friends and their families, and we plan to visit Josh's grandma, aunt, and uncle one day before school starts again.

  1. Makes me wish I lived closer to my siblings and parents. I don't mind movies with subtitles but I have to be in the mood. If I'm too tired, I won't bother.
