A big snowstorm was predicted overnight and into this morning. It sure came! We woke up to look out the living room window to see this:
We got about 8-10", but the snow is blowing and drifting, so we have huge snowdrifts like this one we found when Josh opened the garage door. That drift on the bushes is the one you can see from the inside of the house in the first picture.
Josh measured the "little" drift in front of the garage ... 25 1/2".
Another shot of the drift in front of the living room windows
Our picnic table on the back patioSchool is called off, so the kids get an extra day of Christmas vacation as the break was supposed to start on Monday.
All the snow we're getting this year and that we got last year reminds me alot of when I was little. I remember getting lots of snow, more than we've gotten in recent years (excluding this year and last). We used to have a bunch of late starts and snow days every year when I was in grade school. I think it all goes in cycles.
At any rate, I'm going to take a wild guess and say we're going to have a white Christmas this year! And just think how much more snow we'd have if we hadn't had that odd 42 degree day last week when much of what we had before melted!

wow, that's alot of snow!!! Beautiful. I love lots of snow for Christmas. It's been falling steadily all day up here on the Canadian Prairies. If we must have winter, and cold, please give me snow.
ReplyDeleteWow!! That is awesome! I don't envy you the shoveling and the cold, but I sure do miss "snow days". :)
ReplyDeleteWow!! Looks beautiful! The year we graduated, '97 there was a LOT of snow in the Appleton area where I student taught...your pictures remind me of that year! I can remember Mr. Peterman (where I lived) blowing snow nearly every morning during the 10 weeks I was there. The snow was piled up to the roof overhang on the garage.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that is so beautiful. Though not so great if you have to go outside in it to shop or something though!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures though.
