I just took this at 11:00 am. Yes, it's a whole -6 degrees here!
I had to go outside to take this picture because the patio door was frozen shut so I couldn't just open the door and snap it. And I tried, but I couldn't get a good picture through the glass because of the screen. All in the name of art!
There's no school today due to the cold weather. That way kids don't have to stand outside in the cold waiting for the buses, and if the buses would break down (if they even start!), they're not stranded out in the cold.
I usually go grocery shopping on Thursdays, but I'm not going today, much less taking the kids with me. Josh doesn't want me to go anywhere either since he doesn't want the van to break down or refuse to start while I'm out so that I'd have to walk for help.
I have a feeling school may be cancelled tomorrow, too, as it's supposed to get even colder tonight than last night ... down to -17 tonight.
Josh was telling me yesterday about one of his coworkers who just came back from Alaska (I can't remember where in AK.) where she was visiting her daughter and husband who'd just had their first baby. It was in the -40's while she was there. She said that when people go to the store, they leave their cars running while they're inside doing their shopping. I'm surprised no one steals them!
That is way cold. *shivering just thinking about it*
ReplyDeleteHolly Molly!! That is cold.
ReplyDeleteDo you want me to tell you that we are having a heat wave right now and it is 80 degrees?
Probably not. Forget I told you.
Bundle up and keep warm. Sounds like wonderful baking weather.
you need to see the red go down another 15 degrees to catch me *grimmace*. PAINFUL I tell you, just painful. But it sure is purdy.
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, Prairie Chick. I don't want to!
