Today is J's 9th birthday!
Instead of a cake this year, J wanted a frosted sugar cookie that looked like an orange Lego. I cut 12 circles out of sugar cookie dough and then put the rest of the dough into a jelly-roll pan and baked all the cookie dough. Then I made orange frosting and frosted the circles, stacking them, and cut the cookie in the jelly-roll pan in half and frosted and stacked it. Next I put the 6 circle stacks on top of the frosted rectangles and frosted the sides of all. It was a bit tricky to frost the sides of the circles, but the Lego turned out okay. J was happy with it, so I guess that’s all that matters!

Continuing with the Lego theme, we gave J a set of Legos that he wanted, and the kids gave him a small Lego kit that went with the one from Josh and me. J spent the rest of the night following the directions and building the driller from the big Lego kit.
(Day 138 of 365)Happy, happy birthday, J! You're growing up into a smart, talented young man who loves building and creating things. I love you, and even though you don't like giving hugs and kisses anymore and try to get away with giving me the smallest peck possible at bedtime, I'm going to keep giving them to you anyway! May you continue to grow in God's grace all your days!
What a fun birthday!! You are so creative!
