Last Day of School

Today was the kids' last day of school. They had a half day with chapel in the morning followed by the school Olympics and then the school picnic. It was pretty chilly out and drizzled a bit, but it didn't seem to phase the kids although the parents who were there watching the Olympics got pretty chilled!

Following the picnic, E left with a classmate, her mom, and a few friends to go camping for the night at a nearby state park for the classmate's birthday. J and G stayed at school with me for a few hours while I did a bit more work before heading over to pick up F and S from childcare.

This evening was the end of the school year/8th grade graduation service at which the 1-8 graders had to sing. Josh wasn't able to come, so it was just the kids and me. E and her friends came back to sing and then left again for the campground.

After the service was a brief recognition for 2 of the teachers who aren't going to be back next year. Then a slideshow of the 8th graders set to music was shown, and after that was an ice cream social.

So, summer vacation has begun. Now if only the cooler weather we've been having the past couple of days would warm up!
