The kids and I went for a walk in the woods down by the ponds tonight. On the way there, we stopped at the softball field where the kids wanted to run the bases.

It's often pretty mucky on the trails by the ponds. Even though we got some rain last night I figured the paths would be pretty dry since we really need rain. I was right.
(Day 195 of 365)It wasn't buggy at first either, but a little over halfway through our walk on the trails, the bugs started biting, so we hurried out of the woods.
On the way home we saw that our neighbor was outside chopping up some wood with some kind of machine that pushes the wood stump down against a blade so that the wood splits in half. We stopped for a couple of minutes to watch him. The kids thought it was pretty neat ... much easier than chopping wood with an ax! E thought the machine should be in a museum because it was so neat. :)
We used to use a wood splitter like that with my dad's tractor. It is fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteI really like the running of the bases. So cute. Your own little baseball team.
