Life This Week

E had her first basketball practices of the season on Tuesday and Thursday, and her first cheerleading practice on Wednesday. She's only going to be on the competition squad, not the squad that cheers for basketball games (her choice).

Work was really busy for me, especially on Thursday and Friday. I'm not exactly sure why it was, but I know these next couple of weeks through New Year's are going to be busy, too, with all of the special services coming up.

Friday after I was done with work, S and I went to the library and grocery shopping. There was some mix-up at the library with my account. I'd received 2 phone calls at home saying that some of the items I'd put on hold were in, but when I went to the library, the librarian said I didn't have anything to pick up. She said some other people were having that problem with their accounts, too.

One of J's classmates spent the night at our house on Friday. Back at the time of J's birthday in May, we'd said he could have a friend sleep over, but it didn't work on his birthday, so I said he could have a friend sleep over another time. Then we'd forget about it. Well, we finally remembered, and even thought of it before a weekend that wasn't busy!

On Friday night we all watched The Empire Strikes Back. We'd watched the original Star Wars (episode 4) a couple of weekends ago with the kids for their first time, and now they'd seen 2 of the original 3 movies.

J and his friend slept on the hide-a-bed couch in the living room. They were still up and talking a little after 10:00 when Josh and I went up to bed. I think they finally fell asleep around 11:00.

Saturday was another beautiful fall day ... high 50's. Josh did a bit of work outside in the yard, and the kids played on the playset in the morning before I took J's friend back home.

E had band practice in the morning.

After lunch Josh and I talked for a while and brainstormed a bit on Christmas ideas for the kids. Usually I come up with most of the ideas and do the shopping myself, but I'd asked Josh if he would help me this year. We've got enough ideas for all the kids except S. What do you get a 3YO who is the 3rd boy and 5th child and plays with all of his older siblings' toys anyway?

In the early afternoon we all went to town and stopped at the library again (I did actually have something to pick up this time.), and also at Kohl's, Menards, and Wal-mart.

This morning F's kindergarten class sang "I'm So Happy" in the late service at church, so we went to Bible class and Sunday School before church. Josh and I drove separately because there was a voters' meeting after the late service that Josh needed to be at, and then he had to go straight to his work because they were having an open house there today. The kids and I didn't go to it this year. Josh got home by 3:30.

I spent most of the afternoon today online looking at and ordering things for Christmas.

I'm also trying to catch up with the laundry, but that's nothing new.
