Mom's Rocking Chair

My parents have had this rocker for almost as long as I can remember. When I was little my mom sewed some cushions for the back and seat that tied onto it. She made a cushioned topper for our cedar chest out of the same fabric and then used the scraps to sew curtains for the living room of my Barbie house.

After my mom died and Dad remarried, my stepmom put different cushions on the rocking chair. (We'd moved, and the new cushions matched better with the living room.)

When my parents moved about 2 yrs ago, they no longer had room for some of their furniture. They told us kids that we could have whatever they couldn't take. This rocker was one of those things that was left, and I picked it up.

I love it! It's got to be the most comfortable rocking chair ever. As you can see, I took the cushions off; I think it's even more comfy without them. I wish I'd had this rocker when my kids were babies.
