A Little Bit of Everything

E had band practice this morning.

Around 11:00 we left home to get some things I didn't have time to get yesterday ... G's piano theory book, the kids' presents for their school gift exchange, the kids' gifts for their brother or sister for our sibling gift exchange at home, new mittens for E and F, shoelaces for Josh.

We went to Culver's for lunch and then bought a Christmas tree. Yes, we get a real one but don't do anything "fancy" like cutting our own.

There used to be a tree farm that set up a place in town where they sold their Christmas trees year after year. The trees were really nice ones, but they haven't been there the past two years. Last year we ended up getting a tree at Menards. This year we got one at Home Depot. (We tried Menards first, but they didn't have a very big or nice selection this year.) We've considered going and cutting our own tree but have just never done it. Honestly, I don't really care that we just pick one up off a tree lot, and I don't think Josh really does either. The kids still get excited about getting a tree even if we don't cut our own.

Here's Josh cutting off the bottom of the tree's trunk before putting it in the tree stand.

(Day 337 of 365)

In the evening E performed in her first band concert. It was at the high school. All three levels of grade school bands performed as well as the high school's symphonic band and wind ensemble. The high school bands played movie themes, and J, G, and S liked it when they heard the Indiana Jones theme. (They haven't seen the movies, but they watch the Lego clips and play it on the Lego website.)
