Not Home Much

Our church had collected a bunch of Christmas gifts for people in need. On Thursday morning I drove them down to one of our churches in the big city to drop them off.

Friday E had a basketball game. Our team won. E played the best I've ever seen her. She's getting much better at being aggressive, and not being afraid of getting or going after the ball.

Saturday E's basketball team played in a tournament at our school. Basketball and cheerleading parents are required to volunteer 3 times during the season to help with various aspects of the basketball program. Saturday was our turn to take money at the admissions table for 2 hrs, so after E's 9:00 am game, Josh and the kids went home and I went back to school to take admissions. (Josh hasn't been feeling well, so he was hoping to catch a nap at home.) When my 2 hour time slot was up, I went back home for a little bit before the kids and I went back to school to watch E's game at 3:00. Her team played for the championship and won!

Saturday evening Josh had to run the sound and lights for the high school's Christmas choral concert.

This morning it was my turn to do the childcare for the young children at church during Bible class and Sunday School. S and another little boy had a blast playing "Don't Break the Ice" and purposely knocking all the ice blocks down as fast at possible. They'd laugh and laugh and laugh during it. It was funny to listen to them, and it kept them busy for about 25 minutes straight!

We spent the early part of this afternoon cleaning and doing laundry. I made up my final batch of Christmas cookies, but they didn't turn out very well. They kept sticking to the cookie sheet and falling apart, so I'm not going to include them on the cookie plates I give as gifts this year. Josh and the kids are enjoying eating them.

We had the fourth and final of our small group parenting Bible studies this evening at the home of another couple. We'd all agreed ahead of time to do a meal at this one. One of the ladies made lasagna, and the rest of us brought garlic bread, salad, and desserts. Yum!

When we got home, we finally decorated the Christmas tree. This year Josh and pretty much just watched, and the kids hung all the ornaments on with the exception of the 4 or 5 ornaments I hung. It was fun to watch the kids all work together, and they had a blast using the ladder and stool to hang ornaments on the higher branches.

  1. Hi, Glad to know I'm not the only one who experiences cooking disasters occasionally. Some cookies I made last week sound similar to yours and on Saturday I made a banana toffee cake which I was told tasted like petrol/gas! (I think the toffee was a touch over cooked.)
