We Can Can!

I've thought about trying to can things for a few years, but I've been intimidated about doing it the right way, knowing that if it isn't done correctly, the food will spoil. Well, today Josh and I made jam and canned 12 jars.

We used the strawberries from our strawberry patch to make 4 different recipes of strawberry jam ... 1 batch of strawberry rhubarb jam (using rhubarb my grandparents generously gave us when we went there on Father's Day), 1 batch of strawberry with liquid pectin, 1 batch of sugar-free strawberry and powdered sugar-free pectin and some white grape juice, and 1 batch without pectin. We'll see which version we like the best!

Then I also baked 2 loaves of rhubarb bread and a strawberry rhubarb pie. Yum!

  5. Congrats! I attempted a few times at jam and jelly only to find out my kids really didn't like it. I gave up a long time ago.
