Our Weekend Without Plans

E had band practice Saturday morning.

My parents gave the boys some gift cards to Toys R Us for their birthdays, and the boys have been begging all summer for us to take them to the big city to Toys R Us so that they could buy some toys with their cards. Yesterday we went.

We came home with $95 worth of Legos, a Spiderman flashlight, a Lightning McQueen bike helmet and elbow pads, and a bike spedometer.

Just before supper (about 5:50) I left to go get a haircut thinking I'd be home again by about 7:15. Ha! Ha! Think again!

The "salon" I went to was in our Wal-mart and doesn't take appointments for haircuts. When I got there, I was fourth on the list. I wandered around Wal-mart for a while and then sat down in a chair in the salon and read through three magazines. I knew it was taking a while, but I didn't realize how long til I looked at the time just before I went to sit in the haircutting chair ... 7:51!!!

There was only one stylist there, and she was taking forever! I asked her to cut 2" off my hair, layer it in long layers, and thin it out. It was 8:35 when she finished with me! Atleast she gave me some helpful tips on what to do with my extra-dry hair that turned curly after baby #5 which I am still trying to figure out how to care for the right way ... my hair, not the child! :)

I felt so badly though because we don't have a cell phone, and I knew Josh would be getting worried and wondering what took so long. I thought about calling him on the pay phone at Wal-mart once I was done, but then I was going to be home in 15 min, so I didn't.

Josh and I watched Inkheart last night. I thought the movie wasn't too bad (I liked the book Inkheart the least of the three in the trilogy.) and did a pretty good job of retelling the story, even with some changes. Josh wasn't impressed with the movie though. I don't know if it was because he hasn't read the book or he just didn't care for it.

Josh ushered in church this morning.

After lunch we all went to a subdivision nearby where new houses are being built. Many of then had open houses today, so we had fun looking around in them. We're not looking to build a new house or move, but it's fun to go look at the new houses!

The kids watched Finding Nemo this afternoon.

I cut Josh, J, G, and S's hair tonight after supper.

We got another good, soaking rain this evening. We still needed it.

Josh's grandpa is home from the hospital and doing better.
